Hey now, w7s are awesome sq subs. Personally though, I'd go ssa. I'm also apparently one of the few here that has had excellent results using kicker.

Your looking for sound quality and people are pointing you in the complete wrong direction.
For starters all the new RE stuff is sloppy to say the least. The old RE stuff was SQL stuff at best.
When I hear sound quality I think of brands like Boston Acoustics, JL, Focal, and Dayton.
Now to the actual point. You can make just about any sub sound good or be loud with the right box. I've seen Walmart subs stomp on $300-$400 subs in a better designed and build box.
Your best bet is to pick a sub that you like and do a custom setup in it. You don't need a ungodly amount of power most SQ systems I've seen have 1000 watts or less to the sub(s).
then tell me what kind of setup should i use with the re audi sxx 12 magnet?
maverick dont get me wrong deff looking for more sq then my pair or gen 2 type rs but i stil want some bump....hence the reason i was looking at the idmax and jl i love my focal indoors but cant find any good deals on them
The JL depending on the model would give you good SQ and would give you the added bump you are looking for. The w6 or w7 would be the best if you want loud and SQ all in 1.
i was thinking if i went jl either a 13w6 or 12w7 and from what i hear now the fi q has lost the sq it once had and is a little more spl.....i read good things about the idmax, any one try a sub from digital designs?
I've ran digital designs, but just the 9518s. I loved them, but for the SQ aspect it wasn't anything near what you are looking for.
The price hurts a bit too. Lol
Fi/AA!
i guess in the light of things im looking for a nice "sql" sub
Ascendant audio has good SQL subs. I ran the mayhem 18s and was very happy with them. They have been the best sounding subs I've had to date for 18s. I can only imagine the 12 or 15. Would be nasty loud and amazing quality I bet.
looks like the havok from AA is nice im just readin so much about how the w6 doesnt have any punch and that the w7 is not worth the money compared to aa and id some kinda leaning away from jl.........im stil looking to run a ported box but dont know to go 12" or 15"....or maybe a 15 in a sealed
sq is subjective. my friend has a 15" fi q in his cobalt. I think it sounds fantastic
It's a lot more difficult to get a ported enclosure to sound right then a sealed. In theory the ported can out perform sealed if properly designed, but it is much more difficult and takes a lot of calculation and trial and error. A sealed enclosure (as long as the sub is designed to perform well sealed) is more of a "sure thing" when it comes to sq.
