So, I just installed my new HU, took a drive and all of about a half hour no problems, pulled back into my garage and Im sittin there listening to it for an additional 10 minutes when suddenly all my gauges, tach, coolant temp, fuel, drop dead, my aeroforce dies, and my DIC starts giving me everything off... trac off. stability off, etc

Turned the car off and then just turned the ignition back on, and the gauges and aeroforce were good again.

    Any ideas?

So after an hour or so on and off the phone with Crutchfield support, they had me disconnect the illumination wire, that wasnt it.
They had me disconnect the whole harness and interface, then reconnect it as a reset and cycle the ignition 5 or 6 times so the interface can "learn" the vehicle and vice versa, didnt work, was still happening.
Finally I replaced this new harness with my old one from the old head unit, and I didnt see the problem happening at all, put in the new harness again and bam, it's back.

So now they're sending me a new interface to plug into the harness... weeeee

i had best buy install a GMOS-100 with a JVC KW-R800BT that failed to work as well. the GM class II radio is such a PITA! so i'm returning it and gonna just keep throwing money at random harnesses until one works :-\

jspang, I had t he gmos-01 with my old head unit and it worked flawlessly for probably 4 years now, when this new harness started failing I swapped the old gmos-01 in to test if it was the HU or the harness, guess what... no more problems. It just doesnt retain my monsoon amp, so I dont wanna use that long term. I have a gmos-04 on the way, should come tomorrow I'll let you know what happens.

Crutchfield techs said that the crux units have been full of problems but the Gmos units are extremely reliable, Im hoping that since the gmos-01 works perfectly, the gmos-04 will also be good for me.

The tech also told me that wiring up the illumination wire if the head unit doesnt match for it could cause that issue. Like my crux thing had an orange wire for illum, but the HU harness had an orange and white wire... and then the HU doesnt support illumination..

I still have the gmos-01 and will try it again without hooking up the illumination wire I didn't go with the gmos-04 because it uses the front and rear RCAs for the hookups and I have a four channel amp I only got the crux because of the fact that it had a speaker built in for the warning chimes but when using the gmos-01 you can hook a separate speaker up to the front left channel and the chimes will sound through that and since I don't use the center speaker anymore I figured I would us that space to put a speaker for the chimes thanks for your help and I'll let you know how it turns out if I ever get the time to do it

Lol yeah that's one thing I was really happy with on the crux, chimes sound nice.

The gmos unit I could never get to adjust right so it's loud and obnoxious and only got worse when I hooked it up to the amped system lol.

Hopefully I can adjust the 04 better, I'll find out when I leave work in an hour hopefully

K so I got the gmos-04... it doesnt use any of the RCA's, it wires up wire for wire same as the gmos-01.

And yeah, it works great, I havnt seen my gauges die once yet and the amp is noticably bumping lol.

One thing I dont know about is that with the other 2 harnesses like 10-15 was really loud... I was afraid going past 16 or 17 would blow my speakers. But with this gmos-04 it's a lot quieter, like 25-30 is really loud now and 15 is pretty quiet... I dont much understand that.

there is a gain pot on the side of the black box so you can adjust the volume to suit your taste.

so, with the GMOS-04 alone, were you able to retain the Monsoon amp and steering wheel controls?

Amp, yes... But any adapter I've seen on the market needs a separate thing to retain steering wheel controls. They all word it like it will retain by itself but they all need a separate adapter
