so heres the plan i made for componets to replace the factory monsoon system in my 07 GP GT

    Head unit
Kenwood DDX418 DVD receiver at Crutchfield Outlet
    w/ gmos 100 conector

    Amp
    Amazon.com: MRX-V60 - Alpine 5-Channel Subwoofer Amplifier: Car Electronics

Speakers 3 sets one in the doors one on the rear deck one in the trunk
JL Audio VR650-CXi Full Range Car Speakers at Onlinecarstereo.com
JL Audio TR350-CX Full Range Car Speakers at Onlinecarstereo.com this will run off the factory monsoon amp

    Subs
JL Audio 12W1v2-4 Component Car Subwoofers at Onlinecarstereo.com

the amp 2 subs and 1 set of speakers will in a custom box i make in the trunk.
so what do you guys think ? is that 3rd set of speakers over kill?

I think it sounds good, but two 12's are a tad overkill in our cars. They generally rather heavy and a single 10 can sound just as good.

in the process of looking around for a set of 10s i found these
JL Audio 12WX-4 Component Car Subwoofers at Onlinecarstereo.com

seam to be a better sun for 3/4 the price....Am i missing something ...im not trying to cheap out but saving 60$ and getting some better bang wouldent hurt

EDIT__im finding this sub as low as $62....am i missing something?

The speakers are definitely not over kill. Those subs will give you a little thump and thats about it.

I really lean against JL..I just think you can get a lot more bang for your buck. The Alpine Type R in a good ported box is a very good budget sub, but you could go with a smaller company called Sundown Audio. Great subwoofers at even better prices.

Go with the knuKonceptz. I have been reading alot of good stuff about it thinking of giving it a whirl myself. I have always used Stinger products, i think they are the best out there, but they are rather pricey, compared to the knukonceptz.

You obviously didn't listen about the subwoofers, but I agree with BHeat - go with knuKonceptz.

And for the quality, the price isn't bad.

For what it's worth guys.. I used Knu based on friends that believe in higher end. Stuff is amazing.

And +1 on a single 10 stuffed in teh corner to keep your trunk space
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Agreed. Have your buddy do some custom fiberglassing and mold your two enclosures right into the trunk, that's what I would do if I could do my system again.

Im still trying to get a lay out down things look great in my head then once i start drawing not so much lol...no chance at fiber glassing a box im a carpenter by trade so the mdf route is more feasible. plus i ****ing hate sanding stuff for more then 30 seconds. plan is to have this all in by augest 4th for a car show well see how that goes

While I respect that, if your going to do it, shouldn't you do it right? In my opinion, it's not going to look anywhere near as good if you simply make two small boxes and stuff them in the corner, take a whack at fiberglassing. The results are worth the extra time!
