This problem just started a month or two ago, but is now happening more and more frequently.

    (a) It comes and goes when driving over bumps, or turning the car.
    (b) It does not go away after turning off the stereo. The buzzing even continues after turning the car off and removing the key.

After Googling around some, it appears there are a lot of problems with the Monsoon system. The only info I could find was that it's a common problem, but there was never any mention of a fix.

While looking around in back of the car trying to figure this out, I never realized how staticky the rear speakers were. You really don't notice unless you're in the back with the speakers.

Anyone else here had to deal with this yet?

Yes, comes and goes randomly on it's own. The entire system is still factory. I haven't introduced anything after market.

I am having the same problem. Staticky through the right rear speaker, whether the radio is on or off. Stock system.
I would like to know where the amp is grounded at. Anyone know?

I'm still having the problem. Just been tolerating it since I don't even know where to begin to look.

    funkenmiester,

This may be a ground issue, just a suggestion, not a diagnosis. I encourage you to consult with a certified technician for an inspection and official diagnosis.

    Please keep us posted.

Had the grounds and connections checked at the dealership. Nothing wrong was found. Problem persisted.

Took the car to a stereo installation company this weekend. Apparently the amp has gone bad. When it's disconnected, the noise immediately stops. Disconnecting and reconnecting the amp solves the problem for a short period of time, but the noise always comes back after hitting enough bumps or even just simply as turning the car.

The stereo installation outfit said the whole system would need replaced for a bunch of reasons I didn't hear, since I tuned him out as soon as he said that. I find that very hard to believe (the whole system needing replaced).

    .....and so the saga continues.

If the amp is bad replace just the amp.

The stereo guy that diagnosed your amp was half right. Yes, you could replace the amp, but the monsoon is crap and likely to fail again and still not sound good in between. His suggestion of replacing the entire system is truly the only proper fix.

That all depends on if you're doing the install or if they are.

Or you could post a WTB ad for a Monsoon Amp..I have my stock one if your interested. Depends on if your doing the install or not will determine roughly the price.

I don't have the time or experience to install a new system myself.

REDCOMPG: LMK how much you're asking for the Monsoon amp. It's for an '06?

Speakers you can do yourself easy with no experience and shouldn't take much time. And I am not 100% sure about this but you probably then could just put in a new amp to match the speakers RMS rating in place of the monsoon so you wouldn't have to do any wiring.

Well, I just had the factory Monsoon amp replaced yesterday. The @#$%^&* noise was back again this morning.

Does it still make the noise with the amp disconnected like before?

I got a funny feeling that your original amp was fine, and the reason why the sound stopped was because removing it broke the circuit.

Maybe try bypassing it and see if the noise is still there as it will rule out the amp at least.
