IIRC yellow tops are technically dual purpose if you read the fine print. Regardless of that in practice a yellow top will start your car. Some words of wisdom, buy this from an authorized dealer. Optima has a really bad rep out there ATM, and you can basically kiss any warranty away if you don’t jump through their hoops in perfect order without touching the burning rings.

Yellow tops fine buy from advance and get a warranty...had to swap mine after 4 months and this was a battery that was sitting on my desk at that time waiting on various parts. had to bring it to charge...a week later same thing ended up getting a new one after telling them I wasn't goin to come back after its done charging (takes like 8 hrs according to advance worker). This was a red top fyi

Your friend is an idiot. Don't ever listen to him. Just because Optima doesn't list one, doesn't mean you can't use one. You just need to make sure the sizing is ok and that it will bolt down ok, even if you have to use some kind of aftermarket hold down. Other than that its almost guaranteed the Optima will have better CA and CCA's than your stock battery.

Uh no. Yellow top is the one to go with for powerful systems.
