I love mine!!!
I only brought it back from the dead cause I searched and couldnt find anything on the install kits and figured this is the thread where everyone posts info on their aftermarket stereo installs! I didnt want to start a new thread for a simple question.....
Just about finished my stereo.
Its been a LONG work in progress...and I guess its not done yet.
Still going to add a subwoofer but I'm not really sure what size. Or if I would like one or two. I would need another amp for these sub(s) as well.
So far I've put in...
Deck: Alpine IDA-X100
I really love this deck because you can plug the iPod in. I think its great, no CDs, no mess, convenient. Its got the 30 pin plug of course so it charges the iPod as well. Also it charges the iPhone, however I don't think it can play songs from the iPhone. The newer models can however.
Front speakers: Alpine Type R 6.5" Components.
Sound pretty good, there loud of course. Tweeters swivel, helps direct them a little bit for what it worth. :S
Rears: Alpine Type R 6x9"
Also pretty good sounding and pretty loud.
Amplifier: Alpine PDX-4.100
10/10 rating for this amp. Runs cool, its small and compact. It looks really nice. Has cool blue lighting on the outside.
Has quick-connect speaker plugs. So far I found these helpful for the install. You just terminate the speaker wires into the plug itself then plug them in when your ready. Like I said there plugs, so you can pull them out real quick and easy.
I found the plugs useful for tuning. Just pull the rears out, tune the fronts, then same for the back. Quick and easy.
Maybe this isn't actually the way to tune the speakers? Help me out if you know. If its better to do the whole system at once, all playing at the same time. Or if its better to do each individual pair?
Plugs are good for removal as well, if you NEED to remove the amp for the extra little space it would provide. Once again its Quick and easy.
100WATTS/ channel is enough for me so far. Its loud when you turn them up.
However, I do like pretty well every genre of music. So when I do chose to play that rap stuff. I find my system lacking the obvious. BASS.
So what I would like is...
Amp: Alpine PDX-1.600
To power a 10" or 12" Sub.
What size is best for me?
I wanna play EVERYTHING. I want it all to sound the best as possible when it comes to the bass. Do I need a 12" box in my trunk? Or can lose a couple and go with a 10"?
LET ME KNOW!
Thanks.
I'm going to post pictures of what I can.
Show how I mounted my amp hopefully.
Late.
^ oh man i bet those 13.5" JL's freakin' knock.....
Yeah, to a certain extent, i still wanna turn them around and seal it off somehow so bass isn't lost in the trunk, but i want my back seats in. I Would take the seats out for competitions.
Polk SR104 sealed in a MTX 10" box
powered by Visonik v318xt (i had an alpine mrp-850 but stopped putting out sound)
polk DB525 sound good, got them real cheap
and alpine type S 6x9's, are ok
rockford fosgate 1 farad cap.
my sub sounds amazing and hits hard just need a better amp and fix the enclosure size which is too big.
speakers starting to go, want components in the front for better mid range
also need dynamat my door keeps rattling too much always have to nudge it
Well I got a new Legend, so I'm going to whore the thread with my equipment.
Installing the TL CD/Cassette into the faux wood console I got at the junk yard.
Bose 6x9 rear speaker adapters that I broke taking out of the car.
Those Pioneer speakers are what I installed with them, I have matching 5" speakers in the front doors.
I traded my sub for a CAI, so I'm without uber beat atm.
SR is polks top of the line.
I remember when polk first released their SR line up. There 6.5 components were $800
dude...I dont need those links...Just didn't know what the hell u were talking about 16.5 xmax... and still don't haha
i just wanted this.... ( from ur link )
Xmax = Linear (one-way) travel of the cone. Xmax is used to determine the maximum linear SPL capability of the driver, and can be defined in a number of ways. The DUMAX definition is objectively the best one, and it is defined as the shorter of the Xmag and Xsus values, in each direction of cone travel. This definition is more useful than the older definition of Xmax, which was solely dependent on the length of the voice-coil vs. the length of the gap.
I don't keep up or use those phrases. IE ex: Xmax
I don't get into quality...I just like my sheit loud...and I'm good at hooking up systems, I just don't know crap about going "by the books" with technical builds...
- I can make a system work and do it right but as far as tuning the system's....it's still a learning process, when I get back I got more work to do with the alpine 9887...
