Gonna spray paint the inside and outside with black oil paint too.
Had to wait until 19 pages later to tell him this? LOL
Why? Wouldn't it be better to add a sealant and skip the paint where no one will see it and it'll take half your life to dry? Oh...I get it.. the paint it to cover up the leaves. Gotcha..ok.. I understand now.
Lol it'll be god
Might install the amp today and hook up the fronts to it. How long do you think that should take me??
You should be done by now
WOWZA
Who knew this would take so much time!>!>
Got the RCA's, remote wire, and speaker wires in place today, going to do power (couldn't get the screws outta my sill) and ground tomorrow..
Also got my mic in for my radio (quite proud looks pro)
"P. CONT." is the wire I should splice the remote wire into right? Cuz thats what I did.
WHERE'S THE EASIEST PLACE TO PUT MY POWER WIRE THROUGH THE FIREWALL?
Here's my sub too![]()
P Cont = Continuous Power aka YOUR AMP IS ALWAYS GOING TO BE ON (when it has power). No. There is a blue wire, it says Remote, or at least it should. As far as the sills, the cars are **** when they're old, the screws are probably rusted to hell, you either have to break them (the screws or sills) or try and hold up the sills while you pass the wire through.
ALSO. Power wire on the side of the car that the battery is on (passenger for a GP), RCAs on the other side, otherwise you'll get interference.
Go pull that remote wire ASAP and splice it into the correct wire.
Edit: Forgot. There is already a rubber grommet with a wiring harness for your glovebox fuse panel that runs through the firewall, it's behind the carpet, and there shouldnt be anything holding the carpet there since it's where the carpeting ends. Just pull it back and run that wire through there. Might help to have someone in the engine bay grab it while you run it through.
Are you sure about that? I thought P.CONT was power control.. there are no other remote wires, only left over ones are "ant. cont." and "mute"
AND SERIOUSLY? Someone told me the other way around.. I have my RCA's wired on the passenger side...
Face palm city.
RCAs on the driver side. Unless you have your battery on the driver side somehow? You don't? Okay, RCAs on the driver said.
Whoever told you the other way around is a.) an idiot b.) drives a car with a driver side battery and is still an idiot for not considering the battery could be on either side and defaulting to telling you to run RCAs pass side.
And if the wire you spliced it to is orange or yellow, that's usually a continuous power wire. Check it for voltage and you'll know. Regardless, look for a blue wire. Usually its tagged separately, but regardless, it should be blue. And usually the radio and the wiring harness have a blue wire, so chances are they're hooked together, a continuous power wire shouldnt be "left over" though, its usually used for the radio to keep the settings in memory.
Edit: I just looked it up, I guess if you have a Kenwood or similar, P Cont is your remote wire. My apologies.
I think I got the correct one. You can see in the one picture i spliced it into one that appears indigo i think. definitely not orange yellow or black.
UGHHHHH I'll have to move the RCA's tomorrow when I do the power![]()
I fixed my post. As I said, Kenwood and a couple other brands feel it necessary to name the REM wire "P Cont" so you did have the right wire it appears. And yeah, color confirms it. But running RCAs isn't bad. Again, same dealio, run them under the driver side door sill. You dont want them by your power wire.
I mean can't I put the power wire on the driver side? Or is it cuz there are alot of other power thingys on the passenger side?
IK remote wire does miniscule interference, but what about speaker wire?
Itd be easier to just re-run your RCAs. Dont be lazy, it'll just make things more difficult to run your power wire from your battery to the driver side, through the firewall, etc etc.
Run the remote wire with the RCAs on the driver side, just for uniformity. And speaker wires, should be able to run them as is, I mean, you can't really avoid running wire past the power wire for the doors, but if you amp is in the back, try and run them through the center console rather than along the sills.
Ok. I have some nice speaker wire going from the passenger sill to the driver speaker, so that should be good.
On the other hand I have some crappy BOSS wire going from the passenger sill to the passenger speaker.
Both are "16 gauge" but the boss one OBVIOUSLY has less actual wire inside than the other one, and it doesn't look like copper. Should I go find some better wire for the passenger side?
Also where EXACTLY should i route my wire through the firewall>?
I'll have to take out the RCA's so thats not really a problem, I'll go pick up some similar wire tomorrow. It's disgusting how terrible the wire is lol. Literally looks like a single strand of iron covered with insulator. The other one looks good actually.
