i have been looking for a touch screen head unit aswell as dvd player for $200 and under this is what i found
    BrandX XL72DV 7-inch Double DIN In-dash Monitor with DVD Player | Overstock.com
it is on amazon for $144 and all the reviews look pretty good. anyone have any info on this unit or brand? or any other dvd head units for under $200? i know its not going to be amazing. i just want it to get the job done. by that i mean supply me with the pre outs for my subs. play dvds with pretty decent picture and sound better than the stock head unit amazon says its originally like $415 so i thought it might be pretty good. thought?

I'm of this same thought. Stick with something like Alpine or the like. You're likely to save money now, but spend more later when you have to replace that because it fails in a year.

You go cheap you run the risk of it going to crap and paying for the good stuff the second time around....

They are right $145 is still a money especially if you figure in a year you will have to replace it anyway so lets say the unit you buy next year is $500. add the $145 you threw away on this and you spent $645 for a $500.00 unit. Not counting the time it took to put in or any adapters you had to buy. Plus how many days you went without a radio while you waited to save up for it. Not to mention that this place could not even come up with a better name for itself than Brand-X which always gets beat up in any TV commercials almost like they are laughing because they knw they are sticking it to you.

Take a lesson from Drunkie...scour the ebay ads and craigslist or forum classifieds. Deals happen A LOT!!!

I would tell you to look out for an alpine cda-9887 or cda-117. Everybody has their opinion. I liked ipod full speed cable of the 9887 best.

If you really apt to get one cheap I would say look around and see if you can find a nice Eclipse double bin. The brand is no longer sold in the states, from France iirc, but the quality is there. A friend has had 3 for seperate vehicles over the years and they are top... or he just got really lucky. But that would be my suggestion to look into

It looks like it got replaced by this one. Which is odd because mine was new last year. I havent had any problems. My auto sound place has there demo for $450. But here is what replaced it. Looks the exact same... all the features even seem the same.... hmm.
