Thread: Can't Find Cubby Write-Up

I've been looking for a write up for a couple days now and haven't found it and can't get the search terms correct to aid in locating it. I'm looking for the write up on how to install lighting in the storage cubby in the dash. I have an 08 GP and would like to add red LEDs to mine, but I'd like to know where the power can tie into.

Probably easiest to run an add-a-fuse from the fusebox inside the passenger door. Ground to some nice metal under a plastic panel somewhere in the footwell.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I should've been more specific. I'd like for the lights in the cubby to come on when the dash lights do via the auto headlamps. So where to I tap into the power for that? I'm not interested in adding a toggle switch for the cubby light.

Wow! What happened to being nice during the holidays?

I have a test light AND a multimeter. I do plan on using them. However, if someone has already been through the trouble, why should I spend all my time learning what has already been learned? Work smarter, not harder.

Why should someone have to be nice during the holiday season? You act like its difficult to find a source wire to power the lights you wish to install. You could have taken your test light out to your car and located the wire in the time you have waited for someone to answer your question here.

So stealthee...seems like you have some good electrical experience. Would you wire these LEDs into the dash light or constant power with a switch. The LEDs I'm considering are a strip of 10. In thinking this through, I think those may be pretty bright compared to my dash lights.

If you're going to use 10 LEDs, use a switch. That will be distractingly bright. If you're going to use no more than... four? Go ahead and wire it to turn on automatically.
