Does the 08 GP have tweeters up front? If so, that would be 3 pairs. Doors, tweeters, and rear deck.
Im almost positive it has tweeters. In the front on each door there is a really small speaker hole the size of mabye a golf ball, maybe a tish bigger. Im guessing thats the tweeter.

Anyways. Im still not sure of what to get.. I want to replace everything with a budget of around $250.

Probably could leave the stock tweeters in there, not much to gain there with your budget.

I put some 2 way speakers all around and it made a huge difference. I also run them with an amp though. I liked the two way because it added more tweeters.

Doesn't matter how "easy" you "think" it is. Let's stay on topic and HELP the op. He obviously doesn't mind spending $40. Perhaps the installer will walk him through it so he feels more comfortable next time?

Now onto your DIY list. I'll already assume that it's a poor installation based on the materials used or lack thereof. Perhaps he wants to do it correctly and wants an enclosure made as well as speaker baffles and whatever else it might take. Also, how will it look once it's been fabricated properly? It might take some time to make it look good if modifications were made to the door.

Personally, I expect a lot more than the materials you described. I'm not saying that your setup is terrible but it's not my preference but who's right/wrong? Did it meet your goals? Then it's perfect. Since it all comes back to preference and perspective; if the op wants to pay then let him pay. If he asks for installation help then let him ask.

So is this a good sound system? Everything would fit right?

I wouldn't go for that because:

    1) you can go bigger in the front doors which will help with bass a little
    2) stock tweeters will sound fine for your budget
    3) leaves no room in the budget for the rear speakers

But if your willing to adjust the budget a bit to allow for rear speakers then these seem like a good deal.

My suggestion, with your budget in mind would be something like this:

    Sound Ordnance™ P-67 6-3/4" 2-way car speakers at Crutchfield.com
    +
    Diamond Audio D192i 6"x9" 2-way car speakers at Crutchfield.com
    +
    Sound Ordnance™ M-4050 4-channel car amplifier — 50 watts RMS x 4 at Crutchfield.com

I know its over budget by a bit, but the rear speakers are going to be your source of bass and going cheap there is going to really hurt the sound. The amp will really help you get the most out of the speakers.

Hrmmm. Keep rear speakers stock. Attenuate so they play very low...

    My suggestion

    Aura 5000RPM 5-1/4" 2-way Component Speaker Pair 269-180

And any amp choice from below to accomodate your build + future upgrade ideas...
    http://www.parts-express.com/wizards...ra+rpm&x=0&y=0

FYI...the rpm2300 clamped makes over 700 clean watts bridged. Those aura amps are over built and nice.

I second the links he has posted for the front and amp. GREAT price on the front.

Only fear with not upgrading the rear speakers is overpowering the rear speakers as I don't think the factory stuff would like 50w rms, but just be mindful of that when adjusting the volume and you'll be fine.

I really wanted the morel component system you posted before, but I don't know how much of a pain it would be to install 6.5's

So you guys think I should pass on these morel's? The Aura's kinda scare me as they are so cheap. And I would like to replace the rears.

    http://www.amazon.com/Morel-Maximo-6...d_bxgy_e_img_c

Those are really good speakers? And just to make sure those two links have every speaker in my car including the tweeters? One more question, what would you rank these morel's out of 10? just curious lol...

Next, I have a sub in my car and it has a dedicated amp on it. Do i need that amp you linked to?

Thanks, this stuff is like a foreign language to me ha

    Links didn't work.

The type of amp that we are recommending is a 4 channel. 1 channel for each corner of your car. It will be for your speakers and not your sub. Your sub amp is probably a mono amp and would be best suited for your sub. It would not work for the rest of the car.

The speakers I put in my car were $60 for the front 5 1/4s and $80 for the rear 6x9's and $50 for the rear 4 inchers IIRC and was a night and day difference over stock. My car came with the upgraded sound system, but not Monsoon. 97's are odd.

    My sig is my setup.

These links should work for morel's:
    http://www.amazon.com/Morel-Maximo-i...1993129&sr=8-1

Amazon.com: Morel Maximo 69C 6x9-Inch Coaxial Speakers: Car Electronics

And for the amp, here is a 4 channel 50watt one for $100
    Aura RPM4200 RPM Stage 2 Mobile Amplifier 4x50W 269-190

But is there a cheaper one? Things are getting expensive quick lol. But it'll be worth it!

Amp and rear speakers look good to me. Front speakers seem to be out of the budget, and not worth spending the extra $.

I800 will have a better informed opinion though.

I personally don't believe that any difference between the Morel's and Aura's will be noticed. Therefore, I'd go with the cheaper ones

As long as you high pass the OEM rear speakers at ~100hz w/12 decibel slope I'd say stick with stock. That'll give you a bit more change for front components. There's tons of deals for front component sets if you know where to look. Give me a price range and I'll see what else I can find. But on the cheap, I'd stick with aura.

    I have a set of a/d/s/ 320is I'd sell to a member for $120+shipping

If he goes with the cheaper but equal SQ fronts and keeps the stock rears, do you think he will have enough left in his budget to add some tweeters in the back? That would balance the sound better wouldn't it?

Idealy you want tweeters positioned away from glass. Upper frequencies are very fragile due to very short wave lengths. So when they hit the glass they basically "shatter" becoming fragmented and amount to nothing more than nasty reflections. If i ever use my rear speakers I bandpass them to only play ~3khz to ~300hz as well as attenuate so they play low volumes. My experience has been that unless you can time align all of your speakers then the rear just muddy up the sound a bit.

    I800, I won't notice a difference between the 6.5 morels and the 5.25 auras?

Depends on where he puts the tweeters.
He could have the shop mount them so they face toward the front. The rear passengers would then be able to hear the highs. Dunno how much that would cost though.

If I'm going to replace my speakers I want to replace EVERYTHING. So I dont wanna leave the rears stock. And I dont really feel comfortable adding tweeters in the rear. I just want to replace what I already have. Nothing more.

The morel's plus that $100 amp is close to the top of my budget. ($300 total for the amp and the morel's) I dont want to spend much more than that. Im just a tish confused I800 because you recommended the morel's in a PM but a couple of posts ago you said I shouldn't get them?
