So, if anyone has an old non functioning stock head unit sitting in your garage somewhere and is interested in doing a good deed and making a little bit of money off of it this is the moment. Obviously because they're coded to our VINs the unit is pretty much worthless in most circumstances, however I'm trying to fix my stock head unit instead of going aftermarket for various reasons. Unfortunately AC-Delco radios are startlingly non-standardized, thus I need a similar donor which aren't in any junkyards nearby me. If you can send me a pic of the part I need in the radio in good condition I'll send you a pre-paid fed-ex label and we can work out payment. My car is a 2004 GP with the base level sound system. So anyone who put a system into a similar W-chassis is a prime candidate.
Non-functional is fine, just need one tiny part. The part in question is a power diode with the numbers "6504KT" on it. It's flat, black about a 1/4" x 1/4" all the way to the rear of the radio.
To get into the radio you need 1/4" socket and to not be squemish about doing a little bit of prying. The side of the circuit board you're looking for is facing downward so it's the bottom of the radio you want to take off.
What I'm willing to pay I figure kind of varies based on whether we're talking about a fully functional head unit or a broken one with an intact power diode, but if anyone is interested let me know and I'll make arrangements.
Edit: I just found out dealer re-coding fee is like $60, so apparently working units aren't quite as worthless as I thought. However, if anyone has a functioning unit sitting around and would like to negotiate a price I'm open to that as well.
