For a while now I have been running my Pioneer 6000 with my Bose Amp running my Infinity rear 6x9's and Bose 4" deck speakers and my Memphis Audio 6.5" front speakers and the Bose front tweeter.
Well yesterday Stephen, aka s1795so2 on the boards here, and I got together yesterday to install my Amps, my new Infinity Reference 4" speakers and my Sub box.
The wiring was a pain as anyone can imagine, but we managed to snake the 4ga wire through the firewall and we removed the passanger seat to run the speaker amp wiring up the middle of the car and ran the 8ga power up the door side of the car to the rear trunk. All of that was pretty simple in nature.
We then had to redo the Memphis front speakers to employ a Memphis Crossover to use the High and Low speakers correctly and basically diabling the Bose tweeter in the upper corner of the door. That went well. We then added the Infinity Reference 4" speakers to the rear deck to accompany the Reference 6x9's that were already up there.
We then snaked all the speaker wiring through the car doors to the front speakers and then back to the rear of the car. We then had to make a daisy chain to run the 4" and the 6x9s together. The Hifonics Zues amp was only a 4 channel amp, thus the need to daisy chain them. And the Hifonics Brutus ran the Sub. We had to rewire the sub box to run the correct wiring pattern. The Sub Box is made by SubZero a full enclosed box with a Fishman Grill and an old style Rockford Fosgate 12" punch speaker.
We then setup the Amps in a way that would be out of the way, but still visually pleasing. Stephen constructed some wood backing behind the carpet and secured to that to the fender well and then secured the amps to the wood with the carpet between. We then hooked up all the wiring for the power and the speakers to the subs.
We ran into problems with the RockFord Fosgate adapter that went onto the battery. The treminal post from the adapter fit fine into the battery, but the postivie connector on the car would not fit the Adaptor post. And we got the CORRECT GM model, but it didnt work. So we had to do a tape and die job on the adapter post. That took some time to get right but we did it!!!! Well OK Stephen did it
Finally it was powered up and ready to go. Stephen did some tuning on it and there are a few tweaks that still need to be made, but it was a great success and Stephen rocked with helping yesterday and think we both sweated about 10lbs off literally. Even working in his garage it was still almost 95 degrees, and we worked all day and night getting this together and making tweaks and fixes along the way.
Once again a big THANK YOU to Stephen, aka s1795so2.
