First question is about tweeters and it comes from the comment made in the link I provided below. I installed Sony X-Plod speakers last weekend and spliced into the wire harness that was provided in my installation kit (not the car harness) in order to power up my door tweeters. Will this cause my factory head unit to fail? If so, please explain.

Second, I'm thinking of adding an amp to power these speakers. I've gotten a recommendation from Crutchfield for the Sony unit I would be using, but will I need to cut into the factory wires to use this? Will the factory head unit support an amp with the proper jacks in the rear of the radio? I do have the HU with the equalizer in it, if it makes a difference. Aftermarket HU is not an option for me.
