Hey guys, I have a quick question that I hope is pretty simple to answer. . .
I bought my '98 GTP a few months back. It has a Viper brand alarm that was installed by one of the previous owners, but they lost the remote, and apparently it's an old model because replacement remote units aren't available. Long story short, it has an alarm, that was somehow disabled, and I didn't get any remotes for the car, factory or otherwise. I purchased a replacement GM Keyless Entry Remote that is known to work from a friend (who had a nearly identical '98 GTP), and when following the programming procedures, it doesn't pair.
I think the factory keyless entry was disabled somehow when the aftermarket alarm was installed, and I'd like to re-enable it. I will eventually have another alarm installed, but until then, it would be nice to have keyless entry so I'm not fumbling with the door lock at night.
So, my question for you electronics gurus, how can I re-enable the factory keyless after it was disabled by a professional alarm installer? Is it just a couple of wires that were clipped during install, or is there a procedure that needs to be done?
