So I have decided to fully redo my sound system in my 98 GTP coupe. Its got the tweeters up front, the 5.25 in the front doors i think and two 6x9's and two 4's in the rear all stock with the stock head unit. I am looking to replace all speakers, head unit and an amp and get the steering wheel control connector.

I found the head unit I want to get (Unless anyone has any different suggestions) they rate it at peak 52x4 channel and rms 17x4 channel on it.[/COLOR]]Sony CDX-GT650UI (CDXGT650UI) CD, MP3 Stereo w/ Front USB & Aux

And I also think I have found the subs I want Bass Package: Pioneer TS-W303R Subwoofer + Absolute Sealed Sub Box (Again open to suggestions) these are two 12's rated at 2400 peak together and 500 RMs together. I want subs that can hit hard when I want them too but im not all about huge amounts of bass.

So my questions is, what kind of speakers should I get regarding peak watts and rms? How do I match the tweeters up? And how big of an amp should I get? What Kind? two channel? three?

Im not sure if there is a basic run down thread on here about how to go about your own audio system. I know I need the steering wheel control adapter to keep my steering wheel controls.

So if someone can help me out here or point me in the right direction that would be great! Thank you

I have a set for sale a/d/s/ 346is. However, you'll have to fit 6.5". I think a lot of people around here fit them just fine though. You can find pics in my for sale ad and in my sig

Watts and RMS really don't matter. What matters is setup and design. Personally, since you're running two way up front I suggest running your mid as low as 80hz with a 12db slope or 24db HP slope. Do the same with your subwoofer.

The point being, if you're trying to run 20hz through your mids up front they won't be able to handle much volume. ~70hz is the point at which you lose the ability to localize a frequency. That's why it's a good crossover point for sub and mids. No point in trying to playback something in your mids that the sub can do easily; especially below 80hz. However, if you want the best setup ever, I hope you have time and money. Your job at that point would be to install a 3-way setup with the mid bass running as low as 50hz and as high as 200hz. A 3-way can be EXTREMELY difficult to tune. I would suggest paying an experienced audio shop. The reality...you'd be very happy with a 2-way and I could probably walk you through basic install and tuning.

However, if I were you I'd just go to a store where they're all displayed; close your eyes and have a friend activate the button selections and enjoy whatever it is you land on.

    If you have other questions...shoot.
