I stumbledupon a tut for a mod that allowed me to solder in an aux input, replacing the cd player. Does anyone know where that is, or how to do it?

    Thanks.

    Get this little guy:

Amazon.com: Scosche FM-MOD02 Universal Audio Input FM Modulator for iPod, Satellite Radio or Portable Music Player: Automotive

It's an aux input that plugs inline of the antenna and simulates a channel, I've had one for over a year and it's been great so far.

I have it, and it sucks. Static like no other. One, because you have to get an additional adapter for the gm radio input. And two, I have never been a fan of scosche.

I haven't tried on it any other cars, but the louder I take it, the more noise I get. The one that Im using with my xm radio doesn't make the noise. Hence the bias against scosche.

A friend of mine got one as well and it works fine. It's also funny that I had XM wired into the antenna as well for a while and didn't have any problems with the aux or XM. Do you leave both on at the same time? There could be some sort of interference.

I took that one out, for the xm one. And I'm 99% sure it's hooked up correctly. I dunno why theres static.

Yea who knows, sucks it's not working out for ya. You could always go the expensive route and get a new headunit lol

You can get a replacement bulb on ebay. There are also aftermarket adapters to retain the steering wheel controls with an aftermarket headunit.

The difference in fm modulators is if you get the wired or wireless ones. ones that just plug into your cig lighter are crap, and don't have enough power to make it over anybody elses modulator. the only way to do a fm modulator is to get a powered in line one. ones that connect through your antenna but also have to have a power supply. then you will most likely not get any interference, most likely. I have also read about an aftermarket addin to add a aux input into your deck but read that some people have problems where you have to have a cd playing in the unit for the aux to work which just seems odd to me.

I have a stock Bose HU with Aux input, plus amplified 6x9's in the deck and a single 12 that gets RCA input and remote sig. from the bose amp wiring.

For the actual 3.5mm socket I just cracked open a old walkman I had in a drawer and unsoldered the headphone jack from the circuit board. Problems ive encountered with it is that you have to have a CD playing in the HU still for the head unit to switch over to the CD setting. (if you press CD play with no CD in the drive it doesnt do anything) This is because your just tapping into the wires that carry the audio from the CD drive inside the headunit to the processor. When it is playing the audio signal from the headphone jack the HU "thinks" it is actually coming from the CD player. Furthermore with this mod you cannot go back to playing CD's in the HU, the wires are cut...that option is gone. If your HU already does the E20 code this mod is useless for you. Mine spits the CD out randomly about once a week for the E20. My stock CD player wouldnt play for more than 3 seconds in between skipping so I didnt care about hacking it. Mine also locks the radio totally up to where I have to turn the car off and back on if I plug a charger into the Mp3 device while its plugged into the headphone jack.

Why not just purchase a CD player that has an option for Axillary. They really are not that expensive. If you do so, the red wire from the BOSE system can be connected to a positive line for the speakers to still work.
