Ok, so I bought the adapter that allows On-Star and the door chimes, etc to work and I'm not having a problem there. However, by replacing the factory radio, I lose the date functionality of my DIC. I bought a harness to relocate my factory radio to the trunk: 2000-UP GM Harness to NonFactory Stereo Adapt/Retention - Mobilistics

The only problem I have now, is that I have no clue how to route the harness through the car into the trunk. I've never done anything like that before and I have no clue as to what path to take, I need to know what components I need to take apart and exactly how the harness should be routed. Would someone be willing to give me a detailed explanation of how to do this? Pictures and/or diagrams would be extra helpful. Thanks!

Run it right up the middle. Pop the center console (4screws) then up under the back carpet/seat.

Seems like a lot of trouble just to keep the date, unless you're one of the minority's who actually keep the date showing.

Another option is to get a deck that displays the date/time.

My Pioneer AVH-P3300BT is perfect because the top right has a 'lil box with date/time

Thanks for the input guys. I ended up just running it along the passenger side by the doors under the carpet. Worked great. I just popped the trim out, tucked it in and then put the trim back. One of those things you just have to learn on your own I suppose. But now I have an aftermarket radio and a DIC that retains the date. For some reason I was all OCD about it. lol

Thoughts on that unit? That's the one i'm considering. Just ordered all new 6.5's and 6x9's. That unit is probably next.

Yes, I was able to get it done. I'll take pics after work and also list the parts that are needed. It was relatively simple. On-Star sounds a little weird (lots of static) only AFTER you turn on the aftermarket radio. If you don't turn it on it sounds fine. But once you turn it on once it stays that way until you turn the car off and the radio powers down. Why I don't know, but it's not that big of a deal to me and I plan on researching why and possibly fixing it. I get off of work at 6:30pm EST, and have a 5 button DIC swap to do (including running the wires for the compass) in addition to installing aftermarket speakers. But I'll definitely take the pics tonight and post it within the next few days.

    UPDATE
Just letting you know that I still plan on posting pics and doing a small how-to write up on this, but I've been busy at work, and when you work 7:30am-6:30pm one tends to be drained by the time they get home. lol I'll get them up if I have a light day or on one of my days off.

I miss my DIC, I didn't realize how much I looked at it for the Day/Date till it was gone. I guess I'll give putting the old deck in the truck if it looks easy enough to do from your pics and guide.

I'm still planning on doing this. Hopefully within the next few days. I've been busy, plus I have to hardwire the compass for the DIC as I don't have the harness.
