I was just browsing and this doesn't look too bad...

    DIYCable.com : Intro » Home » Exodus Subwoofers »

What do you think about this one matt? Only issue I see is it likes power but 85db 1w/1m is what most subs are these days...and you have 800watts. A nice bandpass maybe? You could even utilize a hybrid isobaric with passive radiator?

EDIT: To make it simple they already modeled something for you + purchase price n' such...

Hey Gafford...it would help if you could give us your goals. i.e. size requirements, daily driving?...burps?...how loud you need it to be?

I always use the assumption of daily driving and moderate volumes with the higher end reaching towards 110db. That 12" would be fine for daily driving and the JL is very nice but I still think you could match multiple subs that are cheaper and still achieve the quality of that JL sub.

Actually... this is the one I want... DIYCable.com : Intro » Home » Exodus Subwoofers »

Go for whatever will work in the box you're going to put it in and you can actually power, has decent sensitivity, decent power handling (RMS, nothing but), and a decent xmax rating.

The DIY cable speakers might sound a little better because they use XBL^2 motors but they typically end up sounding the same when pushed.

I think he skimps on the spiders IRRC.

like I said....displacement is king. We both agree on that we just have different approaches Most people can hear up to 20% worth of distortion in a sub before they realize it's not right.

When I had the 18" in my car it was the greatest thing going... the two twelves suck dick in comparison but I don't need it so it'll be sold for cash shortly...

With the exception of asking it to reproduce sound above 60-70 Hz... Le of 6 mH will do that

Well I ended up getting the W7. 200 bucks for a month old jlw7 is very good deal in my opinion. So I have the 1500.1 kicker amp and 12" JLw7v3. I'm afraid to over power the sub

Power handling according to JL is 1000 RMS which is kinda about where you'd expect most subs to be in the "SQ" catagory along with 30 MM of Xmax.

Well i know it rms at 1000 watts but the amp at 2ohm is 1500 and at 4ohm is 750.. so i figured at 3 it would be around 1150ish..
