    google phase.

put it on which ever is louder when you're sitting in the drivers seat.

if ur sub is mounted cone facing out leave phae shift at 0. if ur inverting ur sub and the magnet is facing out then switch it to 180. this is so the sub will hit at the appropriate time

    Again no...

Just put it on whatever is louder at the listening position aka the drivers seat.

Also, inverting the sub is stupid and just exposes the motor to dirt and debris which could destroy it.

agreed on not inverting the sub...and yes you are right you wanna see which one is louder generally speaking. if you shift the phase of the audio sine wave on the output of the amp by 180* you will change the time the sub hits to be the opposite of what it would be at 0* of phase shift. so instead of the sub excursing outwards at 0* it will be excursing outwards at 180*. so when ur sub is inverted like in a bandpass box or wutever the setup my be, it will sound more tuned to the beat.

Um, the time that one lambda takes up is SO small that it won't be "more tuned to the beat" but you just won't have cancellation due to the two different sources being 180*out of phase.

The culprit is cancellation, a phase "flip" switch has NOTHING to do with time alignment really. Either its in phase or its not. Generally you get the phase right, then the time alignment takes care of itself.

Unless of course you're a multiple of 360* out of phase in which case you'd have no phase issues but lots of time alignment issues.

Its all fun and stupid all at the same time since no one cares to find out the reasons why certain things work and others dont.
