I'm re-installing a Sony trunk-mounted CD changer in a 2002 GP (40th Anniv. edition). First installation (not by me) resulted in nasty lighting & instrument problems, fixed by replacing the ignition wiring harness at great $$. When this work was done, the CD changer was left disconnected. I now need to reconnect 2 wires, one 12v all the time and one to turn on the unit.

All I need to know is:

Where can I tap into the delayed accessory power line that lets the radio and power windows operate after ignition is off, but door hasn't been opened? I want something I can splice into that I can reach without disassembling the entire instrument panel. I've pin-poked into nearly every wire I can see at the bottom of the dash without finding what I need.

Any words of wisdom (including wire color)???

    Thanks!

if you're running an aftermarket head unit, sometimes there is an output from the HU that turns on external units whenever the head unit comes on. FYI (so it's easier to search yourself) it's called Retained Accessory Power (RAP)

Hey, thanks for the input, but I'm running the orig. GM front end. It looks like I'm going to have to rip the dash apart to access the cable that feeds the head end. I was just hoping I could avoid that part of the job. Oh, well........

The fuse for your stock head unit? If you tap into that for the switched line for your cd changer it shouldn't be too much of a current issue.
