loooks great man where can i find these?and how do i know witch bulb size to get
Hey guys I just got my led kit from diode dynamics. Cant wait to get them all installed, but I am having a few problems I hope you guys can help me with. The trunk, glove box, and passenger footwell lights wont work. When I put the old ones back in they still work. I have tried flipping the leds so Ive tested both sides. Any ideas???
Also how do you get to the license plate lights and how do I get to the rear dome lights??
I got the stage 1 led kit. I have a 98 Grand Prix GT.
Anyone found LEDs that work well for the 2004+ body? I got some the other day, but they don't put enough light on the plate to be legal. I'll just use them for something else instead, but it seems that the LEDs from the Diode Dynamics are too long to fit correctly in the 2004+ GPs.
yeah, i just tested the 194 5-5050 SMD from Diode Dynamics again, the had to be pushed in a bit, so I hope that doesn't break them. But it looks like those will work, I'm gonna look at them tonight to see how it looks at night.
Yeah Diode Dynamics has a good product , I recently installed the Stage 3 pure white LEDs in my 2002 GTP and they have made a HELLA difference. from the dome lights to the vanitys , licence plate glove , footwellss, etc WOW worth the money. And if your having trouble with the 194 LED bulbs , try bending the conductors outwards and put it in , sometimes it just doesnt receive a solid enough connection.
Thanks for all the help guys. After trying all of your guys helpful advice this is where it stands. All of the interior Lights are working, but the glove box, license plate, and trunk...The trunk light will flicker for a minute or so and then it will come on??? The glove box and license plate lights I have no idea bad bulbs maybe?? Anyone have any ideas??
The trunk i had problems with, I've decided to stick with the regular bulbs. I tested one of the diode dynamics SMD bulbs in my license plate, and it works fine, very bright. Also have the same type in my glove box and works perfectly. The type i'm using in there is the 194 5-5050 White Bulb from Diode Dynamics.
Miniature Wedge Base Bulbs - Super Bright LEDs
Anyone with an 04+ GP, the top ones will work for all four overhead lights, both floor lights in the front, glove box light, and license plate lights. I just ordered 11 so I have extra in case one ever burns out, but it's pretty rare for led's with voltage regulators...
Though those may work for overhead, floor and glove box lights. I doubt they will work for license plate lights cause the bulb socket is 90 degrees off from where the actual light output needs to be. Bulb socket faces straight back, but light output needs to go straight down.
what size are those overhead reading likes in out cars? I am trying find LEDS for them and am striking out I have a 1997 Grand prix gt
Hey I actually have a video up on youtube about how to change the map lights on a 97-03 GP check it out if you want.
GRANDPRIXGT1999's Channel - YouTube
The part number for the map light bulbs in the 97-03 GP's is 212 some buisness's list them as 212-2 hope this helps.
Wired it to my ignition fuse so it remains on all the time. I didnt buy a kit for it though, just went to my local autozone and bought a pack with 2 led strips in it. Any ideas on how i can do the same for my rear floorboards?

You'd have to attach the led strips to the non-moving portion of the driver & passenger seat in order to get lights down there. But you'd have to run the wires from the front floorboard wires, cut into those wires and then run the wires through the center console area. Not sure how that all would work for the 03 and earlier model years though. I personally wouldn't even bother, would just do the overhead lights.
Update on my last post, though VERY late, those LED's worked surprisingly well on my license plate and all my interior lights, the license plate is actually very well lit, the slight tint of blue makes it look... stylish.
Now if only I could figure out why the god damn LED's don't work without the key in at least the ACC position, they just turn on very very dimly when the key is OFF or out and you "click" them on, however they work fine when the door opens or when you use the dimming switch to turn them on... very odd...
