    Ok......so this drives me nuts.
When I disconnect my battery I loose all my settings in the HU so I have retune the HU everytime the battery has been disconnected. I figured if I removed the faceplate before the power was disconnected it would be ok but it didn't work.
The HU is an Alpine 9815...how long can the head unit go without power before all the settings are lost?

I had this headunit last year, I liked it, but like you said by the time you reset everything that takes a little while and its a pain. As for the headunit holding power, all of the headunits (mostly Alpine) I've owned have always reset after I have unplugged the battery.

It will lose settings as soon as main constant is removed.

I suggest using alpines i. personalize it you build your eq and cross over settings and time correction on the site it burns it to a cd so you jsut pop cd in download it and jsut do your presets.

I did try setting everything online and then burning it to CD but it wouldn't work for some reason. I attempted it several times but it failed.
I was wondering if it had a short memory that would keep settings till you could get a backup battery to it but I guess not.....I'm pretty sure if I connected a second battery before the car battery was disconnected I would fry it cause there would be too much voltage.
    Thanx for the info.
