The remote start generally has an output to disable the factory alarm. Sounds like it's not hooked up right.

I'm wondering how that could be since no changes have been made, I put in some new 6x9's today but I tried it before I did that, even after. Alarm still sounds...It's defently something electronic. I'mma grab my spare keyless entry tomorrow and see if the other set does it.

    Hey folks! Noob here.

I just bought an '07 GP and it's doing the exact same thing. You ever figure out what the problem was?

    Ah well. Thanks anyway!

I called Pontiac and they told me basically to go to a dealership. But they'll probably charge me out the wazoo to even get it looked at.

    Anyone else?

    Hello,
I have an '07 GP GT and it is doing the same thing.
    Anyone have any idea why?

My wife was hit in the drivers door in August. It was just a minor fender bender. Just put a small dent in the door. Could that have something to do with it?
It worked fine last winter, now it sets off the alarm.
    Thanks

Some cars you have to unlock, start, then lock again.
If your alarm/remote start has a alarm disable then hook it up.

it isnt disarming the factory alarm.More then likely who ever installed it used ttaps. If they did do it wire to wire like it was intended and it will work better.

FACTORY ALARM DISARM PURPLE (-) @ BCM, Connector C2, Pin 24, See NOTE *2

NOTE *2 the BCM (Body Control Module) is located just below the DRIVERS SIDE of DASH and to the LEFT of the STEERING COLUMN.

^^^ not sure I can track that. I'm making all this "Iraqi" money, probably go home and have a new alarm installed if there is no easy fix or suggestion to why. I see 2 other people on this post that had same issue as me.

I assumed it was factory also. Mine was almost new when I got it too. Today I went into the info center settings and turned off the alarm. It didn't do any good. The remote start still sets the alarm off.

I am also having this problem. i read somewhere to hit the lock and start button together and it will start. It seems to work but I don't know why. Is there a reason this is happening and can it be fixed properly?

If your remote start is factory and it starts the panic alarm when you hit the start button it's a faulty remote.

If you hold the lock button and while holding lock push and hold the panic button for about two seconds until the car starts, this key combination works even when the remote has this problem.

If the car starts when you do this the remote is at fault.
