Thread: Foglights pointing up

I have a Base model 06 Grand Prix. It has the fog light turn signal combo in the front bumper. I recently bought new fog light/signal housing because the old ones were looking really bad. After installing them, I notice that they aren't pointing on the road but are shining up Infront, not casting onto the ground at all. That seems incredibly wrong. Was I not supposed to tighten the mounting screws all the way? I say that bc I don't know of any other way to adjust/calibrate them. I also installed a LED bulb when replacing the housing, I don't think that would change anything.

Base was the full orange lights instead of the "half & half" ones. Not sure if there was an option for fogs on the base. Thought it was only the GT & higher models that got fogs.

Anyway, I was doing some searching on google guess there really isn't a way to adjust them. The 97-03 has an adjuster screw with a spring on it, but the 04+ looks to just screw right into the bumper with the bracket right behind that. Maybe they aren't sitting fully flush all the way back. I would also inspect the foglight housings themselves. If that LED bulb runs hotter than the factory bulb the housings could be melting. A lot of us old 97-03 guys know about that lol

I'll have to check the fitment again and see if it is seated all the way. And I haven't seen any melting. I use them all the time because I like the way it looks.

Worst case I would get some washers and use them to shim the top screws on the bracket to help point them down some....going to be a bit of a trial and error thing. I did that to my '15 Explorer, but on the lower screws to point them up slightly. With how low the fogs are in the bumper compared to how high the driver sits in the cabin they were basically unusable. The front end covered over the area of light output which is why I believe the 16-19 Explorers got them moved up higher in the bumper. I would try with one washer and go from there. A small adjustment can make a world of difference on how it shines down the road.

The screws are on the left and right side in the middle of the light.
