I have a Kenwood, a little different than that model.

Mmmm. Not bad, I don't have that speaker in the dash, but I'm looking at mounting two in the dash regardless. Lol

I really didn't have trouble with my rear speakers, the only issue was getting the seats angled forward slightly.

You did not have a factory monsoon system?

Nope. GT2 according to the VIN, but base model interior. Lol

That center speaker is very nice to have, it's all voice. Installed a bass blocker on the Polk 3 1/2. Its a great speaker for morning commute listening to talk radio or audio books. I am the minority, I think the monsoon system was very good for a factory radio but the factory speakers don't compare to most all aftermarket speakers.

I've decided that my interior isn't nice enough to warrant keeping it the current configuration...

I might look for a HUD/center speaker dash later on, but I'm not above cutting holes in the current one.

Plus, I've decided on using my very nice, full range 12" speaker with a custom enclosure... for those days when I feel like blasting "Eye of the Tiger" while other people are running. lol

These cars wrecked me with the HUD, having them is going to be a necessity and that is a bad thing going forward once the GP's are gone. Pontiac had a lot going for them, shoulda been Buick to get the axe lol.

If you are going DD I would look at Kenwood Excellon Series. I've had Eclipse, Pioneer, Clarion, Planet Audio, JVC. Out of all of them Kenwood probably had the best features and the best preout at 4.5v. Not to mention RDS is kind of neat and most factory car stereo's have that stock these days. I'm not sure why the aftermarket can't put that feature in theirs from the get go.
