anyone on here attempted to remove their ls4 ? i have removed other engines, and installed some, even put a 3.4/3.5 motor into a cavalier lol
just looking to see if anyone has any tips or recommendations ?

does anyone no if the engine/ engine and trans can come out of the top ? i do know you can pull the subframe, support the engine and separate the trans/ drop the engine threw the bottom but anyone pull from top ?

    thanks

Haven't seen anyone do one that I can remember. If it can come out the top, I believe it'll squeak a bit.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

I pulled my LS4 out of the top of my grand prix, I have pictures if you would like to see them. It was pretty easy, yes there is some rubbing when the engine comes out but the hardest part is getting the back three bolts off your mounting plate and that one holding the tranny and engine together (18mm, required many socket extensions). I would do the engine then the tranny because you have way more room to remove the transmission. Just my words of wisdom! Yes it can be done!

I'd like to see pics if Josh doesn't reply.

If you can, please post them there. I'll be venturing into this over the winter.

    Thanks!

Its easy as long as you take your time. Not sure if you have removed your exhaust ever but you will want to do your front header in order to give you clearance to bring the motor forward. The bolts are very stubborn since GM used a form of locktight on them and can break of very easy. I will try to post pics again but for some reason or other I don't seem to have the ability to do so. I have a lot of great pics of the engine coming out.

Pm me and I will see what I can do to email pics out, I am not really good at posting on here and I dont use photobucket. The hardest part for me was stabbing it back in there and wishing I would have changed out my balancer before I put it back in. Other than that, it wasnt hard at all.
