I changed out the front 4 sparkplugs today in my 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix Gxp and they were pretty bad. One of them actually had a crack n the ceramic

and all of them were pretty fouled. I was not able to get to the rear plugs!!! Does anyone know a way to change the rear plugs and what is the best way to get at them??

Thanks for your time group and have a great evening. I attached some picture of the old plugs.

Remove the coils from the valve cover, should give you more room back there.

    Couple things..
When doing plugs you might as well do valve cover gaskets. Plugs.. Never go with stock replacements. They knock like a mofo and on a factory setup using dod you want a colder plug.
Also while doi g plugs you should seafoam the car.these engines ingest a lot of oil through the intake.

Thanks for the tip Parkave. One other question. Five finger death said to remove the coils to give me more space to get to the back plugs. Do you have any other
tips that would help give me some space??? Also thanks for the tip on using seafoam and changing the valve cover gaskets.

On a positive note the most G's my car ever pulled was .59 in the DIC center display. After changing the front four plugs I got up to .77!!
Can't wait to change the back 4 plugs. Car is already idling smoother, accelerating better, and starts faster. Thanks for all your help everyone.

Nothing really. I used a swivil.head ratchet I got at home depot for.20 bucks...hardest part was twisting wires off..I was replacing.mine so didnt care if.they broke..I just kept twisting the boots till they broke loose and then yanked up on them...take your cover off the engine thats the only thing I took off..its tight but u can do it.

Thanks for the tip Timboku. Did u damage any of the wires? I had trouble trying to get the wire off closest to the passenger side of the engine bay.

Actually I didnt damage any. I was prepared to cauae I didnt care since I was replacing my wires but none were damaged..twist boots until the break lose then pull them off..worked good for me. Disconect it from thr coil then twist so you dont bind the wire if u are reusing them.

Thanks to all the people who gave me some helpful suggestions. I was able to get to all four back spark plugs without moving anything.
I just used a ratchet, swivel adapter, and socket. Was tight like a virgin but felt great like one when I was finished. LOL
