SO I have a 2007 GXP with ~80k miles on it. It has decided to stop starting. It seems like the starter gets the signal to start as you can hear it clack when the key is turned, it just doesn't seem to get the start signal for long enough to actually engage the starter. I have put a new starter in and same issue. Checked battery connections and ground connections to engine and trans and ohmmeter reads good connection. Tried connecting another battery direct to starter terminal and engine frame but still no go. Inside the car when the key is turned to start the dash dies and other weird things happen, sometimes the horn goes sometimes the trunk opens etc.
I think the battery may be weak and will try installing another one tomorrow, but since I tried a direct connection to the starter from another battery I'm not sure if this will help.
Has anyone experienced this issue ?
I have looked at the fuse block and no blown fuses (didn't expect there to be as the starter does get some power signal, as I said above it just doesn't seem to be for long enough to engage the starter.)
Appreciate any help or suggestions as this is starting to tick me off.
