    I started new thread since it was not related to my plug question. As I mentioned before 172,000 and replace the plugs, wires, and valve cover gaskets.
    There was zero varnish. Here is a close up. I am not sure what the small brown clump is. This picture is really zoomed in. I don't think it is sludge since there is not any varnish. I wonder if it has something to do with assembly at the factory?
    It does kind of look like the same color of the sludge on the back rocker cover. I wonder why there was none on the front?






    Here is the valve covers. They had a little varnish, but it wiped up with just a rag. I did not use any solvent to clean them.







    All the lifters look like they were oiling ok. The picture is of the front bank. It was hard to get one of the rear, but they all had oil sitting in all the rockers.

    Clean machine! That little clump looks like thread lock. Like you said probably from factory assembly.
