So after some number crunching and a couple weeks to think on it, I think I'm going to scale back what I was looking at doing, at least for the foreseeable future.
I guess the largest thing I'm going to be changing is the pulley size.
I'm hoping to get away with not needing a tune, and therefore the gauge and wideband AF sensor would be unnecessary for the short term...
So my thinking is this:
SD headers
1.9 rockers + springs
LIM gasket
CAI
3.5" pulley (on a modular hub)
I'm hoping that i can get away with the 3.5 at this point and not have to worry about a tune, as that instantly adds at least $700.
That said, if you guys think even that much of a pulley drop will be unsafe, I'll go 3.6 or 3.8, as I'm sure I'll still get some benefit from the rest without a tune. Down the road when I have more $ i can set aside for this, I'll start getting the stuff a few pieces at a time until I'm at the point where I'm ready to move up. The biggest thing that's killing me is knowing I'll have to either guess on pulleys or buy a likely buy a bunch that I'll end up never using after finding how far I can safely go with the tune.
So what do you guys think? Should I be safe with a 3.5 without a tune and the above listed mods?
