I am having a problem that just recently started..

It all began about a week ago with an intermitent sputter..I just stomped on the gas and it went away...it stayed away until tonight..

It is smooth until i hit around 35mph, and then if I press on the throttle without making the supercharger kick it..it is jumping around 500 rpms...I slowly went all the way to 75mph and it kept doing it unless I stomped on it and held it....what does this sound like? any help would be greatly appreciated..hopefully its not too expensive, I can barely afford my bills right now let alone fixing my only car...

to make it a lil more clearer, after 35mph, it stutters 500rpms unless I give it a lot of throttle. when sitting still I have a terrible rattle under the car if that helps

Sounds like possible the tcc lockup in the tranmission.

Kind of hard to tell without being there. When You floor it it unlocks the tcc. And at 35mph you are in second gear. The tcc will only lock up in 2nd 3rd and 4th.

This is a way you can test it. If it's cold where you're at right now(50 or below). Let it sit overnight and Get in it and start driving and see if it does it. The TCC won't lockup untill the tranny get's warm Like above 80* or somewhere around there.

That's the only Way I know of testing it.

No problem man. Hopefully it is just something as simple as you need some new plugs or something. When my tranny started doing it it eventually got real bad when it did lock up and the tranny went out shortly after. Lost all gears except park.

Let us know if it does it and we will go from there.

dont press on the gas like that then. ease off the pedal for a second, which allows the converter to unlock and then ease back into it. i do it all the time because my car does the same thing.

I will have to give that try also..because I told my wife that it was having problems, and she's freaking out...if I can get it to stop by doing that, she should be ok lol.

Even when mine went out. Stuck in trafic I realized it would not go after a compleate stop.Still no SES light.

Not sure why but when i got it home. Off the tow truck, I could drive it. It was just like i had a 5000 stall. But it drove in all gears. The i guess it warmed up or something and would not move again lol.

ok so I got up today and didnt warm my car like normal, drove it cold and it was fine until it got warmed up. I tryed Bio's trick of easing off the pedal for a second and then easing back in, and that didnt have any effect. it seems to be getting worse though.

when is this happening? is the car surging when you get into boost when the converter is locked or all the time once youre into the upper gears?

all the time when I am in the upper gears..it doesnt do it at all while "in boost" when the boost kicks in, its fine. it just does it on normal accelleration and trying to maintain speed.

it really sounds like youre trying to push it when the converter is locked up.

do you have a boost gauge? what is the reading on it when this is going on? are you getting to the point where it is near 0?

credit is no fun, but sometimes you have to.

but in the mean time try to drive the car without messing it up. you can be easy on the transmission and it will live for quite a while as long as it is shifting well. there has to be something wrong, like the lockup solenoid is going or your torque converter is old or something funky. youre the only one there so we can only give you suggestions.
