What kind of gauge is that? Wideband? If not wideband, they call those narrowband a/f gauges a "light show" for a reason.![]()
That is less than informative for a gauge. Wideband is the way to go.
your car already has a narrowband sensor. its your front o2 sensor, and will oscillate rapidly from 0 to 999. if you want to watch what it does you can set your aeroforce to look at the bank 1 sensor 1 o2 sensor. your narrowband sensor can give you some information, for example, if your data is consistently low numbers then your car is running lean, while high numbers indicate a rich fuel condition. when your engine is at full throttle, your narrowband should read about 930.
the wideband data is much more accurate and easier to use. I would suggest tossing that afr gauge in the trash and replacing it with a good wideband gauge.
Years ago before I knew what a wide band was my friend described it to me as imagining a clock. A narrow band uses only the hours, but a wide band uses the seconds. It's a basic description but it works for illustrating.
