Hey all, was looking to get a short stack but wanted to get some opinions. I currently have a 3.4 headers zzp pcm intake and 103's. Always wanted one and I can finally get one. I was reading posts on some forums from 2012 that said they warp and leak. Any truth to that?

Please keep in mind I don't want my car to blow everything out of the water and I drive it once a week so I'm not looking for the full stack option. Nor looking to do crazy upgrades. Just want piece of mind and reduce kr. Thanks!

I bought my SSIC used in 2005 I believe, it's been on 3 different cars, and I'm still using the pump that came with it. Never had a problem with any warping, you will have to apply some silicone in the right places to get it to seal, but nothing major or anything you wouldn't have to do with any other IC. Reasons I went with the SS, price (used from local member at the time, couldn't beat it), and injector spacers are a lot cheaper than $400 fuel rails. I've been happy with the performance/$ ratio with mine, fwiw.

You need to cover this corner if using stock gaskets

intercoolers are a good amount of work and if you just want to reduce a little kr, maybe consider a set of roller rockers. installation of rockers is a lot easier than installing an intercooler, and if you still want a little more after the rocker install than you could try an intercooler. in my opinion, installing a short stack intercooler is less effective because it is very close to the amount of work that a full stack intercooler takes to install and doesn't give you near the performance.

Another consideration is a ported gen 3 with a ported lower intake manifold. or a gen 5

I'd do new mounts/shift kit, get an ACTUAL tune, not just some canned PCM. I'd have the throttle body and blower ported, prior to tuning of course.

    SSIC's suck.

With a full stack, you'd be able to drop to probably somewhere in the 3.2"~ area with stock injectors. Upgrade those, possibly a pump rewire, and you'd be looking at 2.8"~ with a tuner that knows what they're doing.

I wouldn't bother with the GenV. You're not anywhere close to maxing out the GenIII anyways.
