Ok so I have a 1999 grand prix gtp that I've only had for about a month now. The supercharger grinds but doesn't sound like a coupler. I got another charger from my friend for only 60 bucks and I know it's still good as he just did a gen v swap. I just wanted to see of anybody had any tips on how to make this supercharger replacement easier

I would want to confirm that the sound is not coming from an idler or tensioner pulley as a first step. Loosen the belt and see if the S/C pulley wiggles, and spin the other pulleys by hand. Maybe you will find the trouble real easy that way. If not, careful use of a listening stick or mechanic's stethoscope would be next.
All Grand Prix, all the time. 69 Model J, 99 GT & GTP coupes. All junk, haha.

its already simple. remove the fuel rail, then the blower.

Post sound sample, and don't be fooled, sound does travel! Coupler sounds like marbles in a can rolling around. Squeaks can be the idler pulleys, etc. Take the SC belt off and idle and see if noise is still there, eliminate the idler/tensioner pulleys. It's a 2 min check off.

    $60 for SC is a sweet deal : )

These guys have given you all the tools you need to determine if it is the SC or not. Remove the rail then the supercharger. They are all 10mm if I remember correctly. It takes about an hour taking your sweet time.

less then that even. oh, release the fuel pressure in the rail, unplug the injectors, unbolt the rail in the 4 corners, then flip it to the side, then remove the sc bolts. and the belt. dont forget the straight down bolt on the alt side of the snout. its kinda hidden.

new felpro gasket is 12 bucks at any local parts store. its called a upper plenum gasket. if you ask for a supercharger gasket you'll get nothing.

If you don't know if he's changed the oil in the blower, now would be the time with it off. 16 bucks roughly at my local gm for 2 -4oz bottles. Easier to dump it out then syphon it.

taking my time doing my lim gaskets was 3 hours. i spent a hour easy cleaning the gasket from the sc and the lim, worst part of the whole job.

so if it takes longer then a hour, its due to cleaning off burnt on gasket.

if you have any height to you, put the car on ramps, it will help your back. hell even if your short ramps may make life easier.
