I recently made a thread on a oversized radiator

    http://www.grandprixforums.net/threa...ized-Radiators

and a ZZP Stage 2 Performance Package topic came up. So, I decided to make a thread on it, since I didn't find another thread on here about this topic.

Well, I am thinking about getting this performance package because it looked like a good package to get for a modification but I haven't really done any research on it yet because I just found out about it recently.

The debate on the other thread I was writing about is that the ZZP Stage 2 performance package is not really that great of a package for different reasons.

I want to know what all your thoughts are on this package. People that have purchased it and installed it. Also, people who haven't purchased it. I just want a general outlook and thoughts on this package.

    Also, post your recommendations!

    Let the debate begin!
    Thanks

Well let's see, start off by reading this multiple times

ZZP 3800 CAI with 4" K&N filter (waste make your own for way cheaper and share the same gains)
ZZP 1.0 pcm (debatable personally I would go for someone local who can tune or overkill
3.4" Modular pulley system ('04+ Grand Prix, & Monte/Impala SS comes with a 3.6" pulley) (well you need to under KR and have something to scan with before you kiss your motor goodbye)
    658 supercharger belt
ZZP 3" bolt in stainless cat'd downpipe (bolts up to stock or 2.5" catback) sure or just go the header route
Autolite 104 spark plugs (set of 6) mmmm debatable also get them locally instead
    180* thermostat and gasket
O2 extension.. (Stock Tstat is fine)

Yea so forget the whole package source some of the parts yourself and look use and get way more bang for your buck..
Squirrels are my engine. I need a Ford Regal
    04 Comp G.

For like a $100 more you could get Speed Daddy headers, an MPS with your choice of pulley sizes, an overkill pcm (just about everyone on this forum swears by him and his tunes, nobody seems to like zzp tunes.), and the thermostat and plugs. Throw an extra $30 in for a big spectre filter from autozone, throw that on the end of your intake and you'll make more power than that setup any day of the week.

BTW, your sig says future mods of both speed daddy headers and the stage 2 kit. There is no reason to get the headers if you get the kit, cause the kit comes with a downpipe and so do the headers. Just buy the pieces individually, get a better tune and save money, go faster, and your car will be happier.

just dump a cam in it, bet it will make more power with your 3.8 pulley than the whole stage 2 kit will with the 3.4, and you wont need to worry about knock.

3800 series 2 SC swap, 180 tstat, 5 speed swap, stage 3 clutch, machined camaro flywheel,
s1x cam, rollmaster double roller, crow cams 105# springs, TR6's, overkill tune, ssbc big brake kit..more soon.

Yea a cam sounds nice but also sounds like a lot of work but I will think about that.

Can you skip the PCM tune all together?

You could skip the tune but imho it helps a bunch. An overkill pcm isn't that expensive and really wakes up the car. I know mine did. Shifts smoother, runs cooler and helps with knock. Every one has a different opinion on tunes in general but I think they help. I just got mine last month and i could tell an immediate difference.

    But the choice is yours.
As a rule i would get a new tune with any major changes. Any engine work or pulley drops. Once again, just my opinion. Do what you feel is right. Good luck!

Well, I definitely want the tune. What or who is overkill?

That's a good rule I will keep it in mind.

Ok, I changed my mind on this kit, I'm going to do what REDCOMPG said earlier in this thread. I'm going to get more bang for my buck. I was thinking about that the first time I seen the ZZP kit. So, I'm glad I started this thread.

Lol....I guess I'm going to change my signature.

Tuning will help out the trans. I would always suggest a stock tune and a shift kit in that regard though.... shift kit is cheaper but not as easy to install.

I was thinking about getting a shift kit but I think a tuned PCM would give me a better performance all away around.

    Thanks for your suggestion!
