Fired this pig up and it ran fine several times, fired it up again and it has the loudest high pitched whistle I have ever heard. Clearly a vacuum leak around the snout side of the supercharger, confirmed with a dousing of carb cleaner on that side of the blower. rough idle, change with spray. Do I even bother with gaskets if they dont survive the dismantle. Or just squirt a tube of high temp grey or red RTV between all of the upper pieces and call it good? Or get 2 more new gaskets add RTV to them and re-samich them all together? I've properly blocked off the LIM to throttle body coolant passages. No EGR. and I am 99% sure there is no leak between the intercooler plates. the leak seems to be at the supercharger to intercooler plate.
I've seen a vac leak before around the snout side water tube before, and a pile of RTV fixed it. I hate to resort to the RTV all over everything method to fix the vac leak but it seems like that's the only option at this point. Is a vacuum leak at the intercooler a common thing?
I'm tearing it all apart again in like 7 hours. I hope I get at least a few opinions in this short time frame.
