if you ever plan on camming your car, do it now before you have to tear back into it later. it may be a little more expensive and time consuming, but the gains are above and beyond what any rocker setup is going to get you.

Don't get a SS IC, if your going to go through all that trouble to install a intercooler than get the full size version that will actually make a difference.

they say your gonna want rockers if your plan on running a 3.4 for a while. and fullsize or no intercooler.

and yea i plan on running a 3.4 with headers, rockers, injectors and a tune.

yea 1.9RR seems to be the favorite/most common people get. and with the SSIC it is like half the price of the full size IC, but from what people say they dont do to much. if money is not a problem then cam over rockers and full size IC over SSIC. but the 1.9rockers would be better then stock.

So if I went with a cam instead, which one would you prefer?

i personally dont have any of the things yet. but i know a lot of the people on here get the xp cam. on ZZPerformance it says the most power out of stock heads. but when the people who know a good bit about cams get on you'll get better info.

any cam can make power. it's just what kind of power you want out of it that decides which cam you want.

tell us what YOU want your car to do and we will tell you what youre going to need to get there. we can only give suggestions on what you might like.

im looking to make as much power as possible wile still keeping the car as reliable as possible. i realize that when you start making a lot of power that reliability starts dropping pretty fast, I'm not looking to do anything as drastic as a turbo setup. and I would prefer bottom end power over top end.

Well I wouldn't recommend throwing too many numbers at me (cam specs, A/F, etc.) but other than that I've got a pretty good idea about things. I just dont know a whole lot about these cars.

well, let's start here..who fast do you want this to be

an all out crazy build will net you mid 11s probably. that'd more than likely be a turbo setup or an m90 setup on spray.

a street build would get you low 13s, high 12s with the right tune and slicks and is plenty fast for the street.

are you looking for Z06 stomping ability or just to kick some ricer butt?

i plan on going low 13's with 3.4-rockers-headers and the other suporting mods with decent tires around 104-105 mph.

certin cams dont need valve springs. ie. vs. but if your going for an all out fast build then xp. and the xp is still very reliable. just make sure you put it in right and replace gaskets correctly so you dont leak coolent into your oil and spin a bearing.

thats why im going with rockers. less labor intensive and less stuff for me to screw up. less power but low 13's is fine for me.

you are also problew gonna need a tunner of some sort to tune the cam.

xp then. there is a guy on here that is going high 12's with rockers on 3.2 no intercooler, stock cam, stock heads, stock blower and 21* of timming. its really all in the tunning. hell tdc said vinnie was going faster then him on a rockered car and tdc has a pretty stoute xp, intercooled build.

really man it all comes down to tunning. the power is there, you just have to extract it.

well then i guess my next question would be if anyone has any tips to tuning. i've never tuned a car before, my other car is a '65 el camino with a 327 so there really isn't ANYTHING to do with tuning a computer for that.

i plan on running mid-high 12s on my setup come spring time. probably one of the cheapest ways to go at it without doing a cam or heads.

i will be running somewhere around a 3.0-3.2 pulley, ported lower intake, ported blower, ported throttle body, modded 1.9 rockers, S&S headers, a devils own alky kit, and e85 with 65# injectors.

i ported everything on my own by hand, so it was at the price of free. i have ~1000-1500 in my setup.

and as far as tuning goes, i take it you would recommend tuning it myself over having someone like overkill tune a pcm based on my mods?
