this is months in the future, but wanna see what all will work. next is headers. would have now, but i saw a computer on sale blackfriday i could not pass up. that was all my header money. so have to restart the founds.... anyway... the headers will make my pulley run better since it's already to small of one for my mods. then was looking into maybe a IC. the cheaper one on zzp. like $550 or so. on that it says just that you can lower your pulley to 3.2 or 3.25 to a nearly stock car. i always thought you shouldnt go below 3.4 without a cam. would the IC and possibaly a set of rockers let me drop to the 3.2? i dont want a cam. trying to get as much power without a cam as posible, while being safe. just wanted to see if i got my headers, smaller IC,and rockers if i could drop the pulley as small as if i had a cam and still be safe. i dont want to save up that much money then realize it wouldn't work well. or save up that much the find out i could have done something better. thanks for any input/ideas

P.S, everyday i log on the site it makes me think of idea's i want to do. want to make a final list.
and while getting those bigger mods i'd get the smaller things like t-stat/wires and such.

you shouldnt think of needing anything to run a certain pulley. realistically to run these cars everyone that mods it should have a plethora of different pullies and run whichever pulley that you can run with 18*+ of WOT timing with it. the smaller intercooler is probably not something you want unless youre just driving a street machine. i guess it heat soaks fairly quickly. id look into a full size (stage 2) if youre looking to romp on it a lot.

as is with my setup, with a tune i could probably run the 3.2 but not with as much timing as id want.

youre definately going to want headers though. that's a definate. youre going to want to avoid mods like ported blower and throttle body until later. you can do those on your own as well fairly easily. they just dont help that much with power and knock reduction.

i dont plan on going to the track to much since the closest one is about an hour and twenty min away. guess im looking more for a street machine? definatly am getting headers. then rockers. guess i was mostly wondering if the short stack was worth the 550 or if a mod that doesn't do enough for the time and money. and with the ported stuff wasn't planning on it till maybe after all other mods are done. and instead of porting the TB was thinking might get one of the better ones off zzp. unless porting the stock one is as good as them.

as far as the TB goes, youre always going to want the inlet of the blower to match it. so a biggere TB on a stock blower is a huge waste and won't really be that effective. you have to port the blower at the same time for it to work well.

the SSIC supposedly heat soaks after around 20 seconds of straight WOT. after a run at the track it would basically be out of cooling ability. it is effective and it does help a ton, but the fullsize is just that much more effective. you can normally piece them together from used stuff in the classifieds for a lot cheaper than buying it straight up from zzp.

if youre looking for a good romp on the street, then youll probably be fine with an SSIC. id say with headers, rockers, SSIC, ported blower and TB..you should be able to run somewhere around a 3.2-3.0 pulley depending upon how the tune looks and how your car responds to the mods.

If you have an aeroforce gauge, between runs you can turn the car to on but not started (starts IC pump) and command the fans on so that it removes the heat. Wouldn't take long.

Even better if you have the Meziere water pump so you cool the whole engine down at the same time.

thanks about the info on the blower/tb. i didnt know about that. and probably would have never found out. and im getting getting headers/rockers regardless but is there something i shoud get instead of an IC? or would that be the next step? oh, and i know if your pulley is to small it creats KR and thats bad, but any problems with not dropping it? or just not getting the full power you can have? in my thinking its just not full power but nothing bad for the car right?

No there will be no negative affects from not dropping a pulley size. You will just be able to run more timing.

if youve got headers and rockers there are a couple choices on where you could go.

technically if youre not looking to take anything off after youve done it once, then an intercooler is the next best step. otherwise if youre looking to stick with that stuff for a while and then switch to something else id think about going towards a cam.

i run a SSIC, 3.4 pulley and 19* of timing on a L36 block. im in the 12's basically, i am trapping 104mph consistently. my SSIC let me go from 11* of timing with no IC to running 19* of timing, so it does work.

On the subject of the SSIC, did you have to mod the LIM to retain PCV function?

Did the breather make your tune harder to iron out? I really don't like the idea of a breather, but that may be the way I have to go.

no, the breather is actually pretty good. my buddy has the same set up as me, he didnt run the breather and wound up having a major oil leak, and blowing out his rear main seal. there are a lot of myths on these forums. i never had a problem with my breather, never had belt slip with my ZZP single belt kit, and have been fine with ER rockers on stock springs

just a heads up, TOGs are a pain in the ass to get to seal right. at least mine were since the flanges were warped from whoever had them before me tightening them too much.

after having those and hearing everyone elses stories, i believe i made a great choice in going with the S&S i have now. they were easy as crap to install and they work just as good as any other set.
