ok so now i know what it is and does it isnt a mod it is a part time solution to a problem . here is some more info if anyone else needs this help .
The L67 GTP has a two speed fuel pump. There are two relays that control the fuel pump via the PCM module. The fuel pump relay and fuel pump hi-speed relay. Tied into the hi-speed relay is a fuel pump resistor that may go bad.
Symptoms vary but primarily the engine will start but die in a matter of seconds due to insufficient fuel pressure.
Here is an easy method to bypass the fuel pump resistor which puts the fuel pump in the high speed mode:

For an alternate bypass procedure Click here (Rocky Mountain Club Grand Prix).
Keep in mind this is a temporary fix and your fuel pump will be running in hi-speed all the time. So sooner or later you will need to replace the fuel pump resistor. Available here (Official GM Fuel Pump Resistor Kit: PFYC).
Applicable to '97-'00 GTP with L67 Series II 3800
You seemed to have answered your own question. Sorry I couldn't get to it sooner. But yes, this is not a mod. But rather a fix for when your fuel pump resistor goes bad. You can do this fix and set the fuel pump to run on high speed all the time. For a short time, this will be fine until you can get around to fixing it correctly.
yea i figured that out after a little more digging that i answered my own question . oh well at least someone else can read this and learn about it .
bayareagtp, I know you you have it in your post, but I just want to stress that this is only applicable for the 97-00 GTP (or supercharged apps).
In 01 they changed to a venturi fuel pump so there is no need for a resistor.

webracin can you put this in the fixed forum for other people please . thanks .
I ran my car with the temp fix for well over a year. Never had issues. When I put the new one on I just reached in the little area in the fender where the original was and unplugged it. I mounted the new one to the radiator core support on the bumber side and plugged it in. Easy easy fix.
I changed your prefix to **Fixed** for you... I think that is what you were looking for?
thanks .
Sorry for digging up an old thread, but I think I might have an issue with my 97 gtp motor trans and wiring harness swap into my 98 gt. Is the resistor near the motor or is it around the fuel pump? I guess what im getting at is, will i be able to get my 98 gt to run when I put my 97 gtp motor, trans, wiring harness, and whole front cradle into my gt? I plan on having this thing running tomorrow and i feel like this will hold me up. If anyone has any idea on a simple fix to this without having to tune my pcm, then that would be much appreciated
Thanks in advance
Cod... Please, keep the repeatative question to one thread. If you don't understand what we believe is the answer to your questions, please rephrase it or ask us to elaborate further. Based on our experiences and how easy/hard something is, may drive our answers and I wholly understand how that may not make sense to someone that hasn't tried to do this yet.
