Thread: Build all you can build S/C 3800

So, as stated in my other post, I'm back to tinkering with the GP as a DD. I'm stuck between doing a stocker build and SC build.

But, "while were here" gets me every time and i stack mods on mods and do nothing. Either way, If you could build any S/C 3800, what would you use, using as much stock parts as possible.
So, what block, which rods, which pistons, which heads/SC/Intake and lastly what cam?

Headers are going on the car, but ive heard and read so much about the SIII vs SII, Gen V, XP cam, yadda yadda.
I'm considering SII stocker with an XP cam, bigger springs and pushrods and letter fly. I'm not looking to race, but I want a reliable, S/C, DD that gets better mpgs that my GTO here on Fort Bragg...

I usually fill up before I head home on the weekends, drive 200 miles, and get like 20.9 as an avg.

Then, the rest of the week my commute to work involves stop and go traffic. My avg is then dropped to 16-18. I'm mainly gonna burn up the highway with the GP. And it'll also give me another vehicle thats still fun, but not outrageous. Also, I can have the GTO down for a few days while i'm installing parts.

^ yea that recipe will never do yah wrong.

Gas prices are never going to be any less. I don't think I would do a larger cam. I'd throw that money at an intercooler. I wouldn't do anything that would compromise mileage. The higher compression will help on both ends.
