    How can I tell if I need a magnasteer or not can I get a rack n pinion cheap?

    If it is magnasteer you'll have a wiring harness coming off the rack
    98 GTP modded 1.9's, sd headers, 3.4", zzp 1.0 230K miles scrapped.

    If you get a rack and pinion from a junkyard you can get it fairly cheap. I got mine for 28$ Just find a low mile car with magnasteer and then pull the tie rod boots off to make sure theyre not full of fluid.

    IIRC everything 98+ GT and GTP had magnasteer, SE's were w/o magnasteer. Only 97 had magnasteer as an option... But I could be wrong...

    But yes, if it's a magnasteer unit there's a two pin plug coming off your rack below where the steering shaft attaches.

    Ebay from detroitaxle. I got mine with Magnasteer for $104. Works great.

    No point in not running mag steer if you have the option. Mag steer is only a few bucks higher.

    Ok another incident i took the cap of radiator and water got on belt. belt slip of and broke the metal that the belt tensioner is on off the motor. Is this fixable? I want this car

    post a pic of this damage, sounds like the tensioner broke.

    Would kinda like to wire up the mag steer in my 97 monte but i havent figured out where to wire it to i know one goes to vss but wut about the other one? Sorry to thread jack
