Ok so I replaced my start about a month ago with a used one since mine took a dump on me. It ran fine for about 3 days then it seemed like the starter took a dump on me again. I replaced it a 2nd time. Now the batt will not charge and the car dies after the battery drains.
I have had the alt tested 3 times came back good. Hooked up my volt mtr to it. It only showed it putting out about .2 .3 volts at idle. At about 3k rmp it only showed 7 volts. So I thought bad alt. Replaced it and it dose the same exact thing. Is there another way to test the alt. ? If I disconnect my batt and car dies it would be the replacemnt alt is junk too ? If the fusible link running to the starter took a dump would that cause it not to charge.
I am almost positive I have my starter hooked up correctly but I may be wrong. Purple wire running to small stud. My fusible link and black ground wire running to bottom big post and my main wire running to top big post. I have checked all of my fuses and they are all good. Should I just run a fused cable from my alt strait to my batt to see it that will keep it charged ? I am stumped on this one.
What I really want is a diagram of where the power/ground wires run on this circut. That way I can clearly track down why I'm not getting power back to my battery. I'm half tempted to do the big 3 just to get rid of the half mile of cable running around the car but I dont have the cash for it at the moment. Any thoughts on what this could be ? Im tired of trying to throw money at the problem with no solutions.
If you need any more info on problems let me know. Im going to go home tonight and try to run a strait wire from alt to batt to see if that dose anything. If I have that much extra batt wire laying around.
