Thread: Header Install Woes

So the Speed Daddy header install is not going so well. The crossover pipe is far enough out that I cannot bend it to fit the front manifold.

Does anyone in the Jacksonville, FL area have a block with cylinder heads that I can use to fit up these headers so that they will install correctly in the car?

Had the same issue but we took the front header off. Attatched it to the crossover, then we bolted the header backup slowly throughout the day lil by lil so it slowly bent the crossover, Hope that helps.

I tried doing that yesterday but the problem is that the angle of this setup is so far off that I can get one bolt in on the passenger side of the front header but then the driver's side is off by atleast 1.5".

I'm going to try and bend where the crossover goes into the rear manifold with some heat and a hammer and see where that gets me.

Should I leave the rear header loose when I am doing all of this

Geezus for the love of god please tell me you have the upper dog bones loose! The engine rocks back and forth super easy once you take the dog bones out and will be SOOOOOO much easier with more room if you don't have them off slap yourself then say thanks Vet.....................

The coil mount was off, dogbones off and a whole slew of things to go about installing the rear header from the top. I got the header in but it wasn't until I read another post by bill about dropping the rear of the cradle and coming in from the bottom that I found out it was 1000x easier that way.

I ended up borrowing an engine from a mutual friend with a junkyard to mock-up the install. After I cut and welded the crossover the whole setup dropped right in.

I am doing better on knock now, down to about 2 degrees on a stock pulley and cooler copper plugs. I need to weld in my wideband bung to see if I am running lean or what is going on.
