I've tried running their 10.3mm wires, and the car misfired under boost so I exchanged them for a set of their new 10.5mm wires. Now the car will barely even idle. I triple checked the cylinders and they are all hooked up correct, plug wires clip on nice and tight both at the spark plug end and coil pack end. I was impressed at how nice and positive then clipped on actually.

So I remove them and toss a worn out 30k miles set of autolite professional series stock replacement wires back on and it runs perfect..

Do the bigger wires require a stronger coil or do ZZP wires just suck?

My ICM is new, and I tried the coils and ICM off of another car. Same result. Stock wires work fine, ZZP wires the car doesn't want to run smooth at all.

I'm just wondering if there is a problem with my ignition system, and maybe the lower resistance wires are causing the problem to surface.

    Thanks for any ideas..

I have heard that ZZP wires are hit and miss sometimes. I would just contact zzp and let them know that you are having issues.

I've heard of people having issue with ZZP wires, the stock wires are the best.

I emailed ZZP and zoomer replied that I am the first to have a complaint about their new 10.5mm wires.

I am going to double check them on a friend's completely stock GTP tonight, to rule out any problems on my end first before trying another set.

ZZP's first massively oversized wires were awesome. then they got a different supplier that was complete rubbish and they were horrible for a long time until they went back to their old supplier which I think was like last year. They should be good again. It's still not impossible you got a bad set though.

I highly doubt you have any need for wires that large. I know plenty of people making north of 500, 600 and even 700 hp on 8mm wires.

Stock is great, PRJ if you want to spend the money.
Return those ZZP wires and demand a full refund.
I did that after having them for two years and they paid up full.

The only reason I went for larger wires was the insulation factor. Running them in tight areas and under the snout etc.. That's where arcing would occur. Larger wires mitigate the issue. Other than that.. why run them?
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Same here, and I got a deal on mine, they're Moroso. I'm not sure they didn't fall off the back of a truck.

i have MSD 8.5mm wires and had the same problem. then i realized i had mistakenly crossed two of the wires. corrected the issue and never had a problem since. simple problem, simple solution. just check and make sure you ran them correctly.
