Not sure why it needs to be 20* of timing, likely you won't be able to run that high, prolly around 16-18.

But regardless, ported heads will always flow better so why not do them.

up to you. Do you have the tools and experience to do it yourself? Do you have the money to have a shop do it? the shop will probably be able to do more and do a better job.

"maybe running l36 pistons but i would need a fullsize ic for that"
That statement confuses me greatly. what does running l36 pistons have to do with intercooling? You dont NEED an intercooler but they do allow for more timing/pulley drops? Completely unrelated though.

I would need a better ic to run more compression safely i only have ssic so on same setup if i ran more compression i would get kr so to compensate i would need to upgrade my ic core as far as head porting it will depend on how much time and money i have so far my build is at 1800

Ok you can't just swap pistons and not the rods IIRC. The L67 rods are about .1" shorter then the L36. If you are wanting to do what you say (top swap essentially) you need to find a L36 or L26 to do your work on. L26 motors can be found cheap and would be better then breaking your bottom end down.

As for your intercooler idea. Right now I am top swapped (9.4:1 L26 bottom end) running the mods in my sig W/O and intercooler and I see 0KR and this is with an Intense Custom "canned" tune. This is driving normal and WOT pulls at the strip... Never seen a blip of KR yet. So research is key here, I am unsure how small of a pulley you can run until you see KR. That all depends on your supporting mods as well.

Ya i had ssic 3.5 42.5 injectors headers and had upto 5 deg kr my build will be same mods but tge adding nic cam 90lb springs and possible ported heads and l36 rods/pistons hope to run a 2.8 pully

Should be do-able on a gen3 m90 with a good tune. Shoot for a phenolic IC if you can... they're pretty sweet. Also if I remember correctly if you're going to switch to one of the higher compression blocks, the l36 has better rods than the l26 I think.

I might have to just run that setup then see where im at then upgrade ic core later also my ssic was having problems sealing i had a vac leak and tip on how to seal them leak was on passenger side near front of tge car where the hoses come out

Ya the SSICs have a lot of trouble resealing sometimes. I had that issue with mine too. You can try just using RTV or silicone.
