im putting my cam in and i cant seem to find out how the timing marks are supposed to be lined up?

Align the dots for balance shaft, then align the dots for the crank and cam sprockets.. It will be very obvious if this is off even by 1 chain link or 1 gear.
Get all DataDIY subscription it has all the Manufacture specs and full tear down and rebuild steps too. That is what i used. It is $16 a year.
Something that most don't do and should is to set the timing marks dead on before pulling a chain. Then put your new set on, let's say it's a rollmaster with multiple keyholes for the crank. Easy check Put the old sproket on to test that the crank dot is straight up and check it after install since there's enough key to put it back on the end.
