I have a buyer lined up for my 98' GTP motor and trans.

-Trans is stock besides TransGo shift kit, it has 40k miles, painted and in excellent condition.
-Stock L67 block, also with 40k miles
    -Ported TB
    -Ported LIM
-Ported Gen III M90 Eaton Blower with silencer ports block off plate installed, MPS installed, new fluid, 40k miles
    -3.1, 3.25, and 3.4 pulleys with belts
    -ARP Head stud kit
    -Aluminum LIM gasket upgrade
    -ARP Rocker Bolts
-mild P&P heads with #105 springs and valve locks all Comp Cams, new seals
    -ZZP titanium retainers
    -SS SI Valves
    -XP cam
    -SS PCV covers
    -ZZP Polished Aluminum valve covers
    -ZZP 10.5mm plug wires
-ZZP water pump, and oil volume kit
    -Drilled ZZP 180 tstat
-All new Fel-Pro gaskets through the motor
-Block and heads painted Chevy red-orange
    -TB, LIM, blower painted Aluminum
All parts listed are new, and never ran or even started, the rest have 40k original miles, motor is complete oil pan to TB with all assecories.

    So what's it all worth?
Would I be better parting it out piece by piece?

Also have a sweet old sawn off Springfield Model 511 12 gauge side by side double barrel shotgun, it is 3/16" over legal limit. What's that worth? Lol

I had a guy come over and check it out yesterday, he told me he would give me $1700 for the motor, trans, my exhaust setup (headers to tail pipes), and PCM

well honestly, i'd add up all the parts/shipping costs. and however much you think your labor for it all would be

An idea based on what I just did.....

    L26 27K : $500
    Top swap: $450
    MPS + pulleys : $140
    XP Cam : $325
    105's : $100

Hell I'm stopping there, already at $1,500 + and not even started and not even discussing the trans... LOL Like what jerXcavy said, add up what you got in it just in parts and factor in labor and come to a compromise with the guy if he's really interested. If 1700 was his first offer, he can come up

Keep in mind that more then likely won't be able to get back exactly what you put into it. Even though majority of the parts are practical brand new if you were to part it out you'll have to discount the parts to sway someone to buy from you vs buying directly from the vendor.

Then if you demod...there is no telling how many days-weeks-months that its going to take to sell everything and then having to ship everything...$1700 might look like a good idea then.

Bottom line if you have the time and aren't hurting for money a demod might be the way to go but if your wanting to just bank and avoid a bunch of hass sell it to that guy.

$1,700 is a low offer, for just the engine & that work I'd say ok... BUT... XP cam, springs and no new chain or double chain? Hmmmmm... Nice motor but with a weak link or you just forgot to list it?

Otherwise, someone who knows what all the parts cost would see a steal @ $1,700, let alone for the tranny and exhaust too.

You won't get reimbursed for your time, so forget that. That only happens if someone asks you to do what you did. As mentioned, NEW, you'd get more for the parts, now they're all assembled you'd get much less if parted out, add time for shipping and such. It's a tough decision... It's sad to see you give up on such a great project. But to each his own! I'd say $2,200-$2,500 for all three.

Even with new parts your not going to get exactly what you paid for them. Now you will get more then what you have if they were used don't get me wrong but, if just want to get rid of them without the hassle of sitting on them for however long and cut your loses I would do it.

    GLWS...
OFC it got a new stock chain and dampener, lol! PCM is untuned so I am assuming it has very little value.
The $1700 is for the motor/trans/headers(exhaust) and stock 3800 parts I have (anything that was upgraded for the motor I have a good stock replacement for), we also agreed since he plans on running pump gas I will keep the 60# injectors/modded fuel rails, and Walbro 255.. the headers were in a way free, but that is a different story. The rest of the exhaust cost me very little to make myself.
I did my best to evaluate parting it out, and I am sure I could make more money that way, but probably not much more, MAYBE 2500, then you gotta think about all the time I would have to put into tearing it down, packaging, shipping, constantly driving to the nearest shipping facility. etc etc.
So I did decide to sell to him for 1700. He has a 88 GT that he wants the drivetrain for, he said he would just buy my car too because it is in better condition than his, but he much prefers the Fastback style over the notchie.
Him and his nephew that lives with him will be coming buy when he gets back from having a hip replacement (65 years old), so the other day after work I dropped the cradle and removed the motor. Now I just need to get a old tire of something to set the trans on so I can reinstall the cradle and make the car a roller again since I have an out of state buyer lined up for the car w/ swap parts, for 1200. The guy that is buying the motor/trans made the comment that I am basically giving the car away at that price, but he can much more easily sneak a motor and trans into the pole barn, than he can a whole car! He told me his wife is already nagging about all the cars he has out there.. lol. He was trying to trade me a 65' Barracuda(318, rock crusher, posi, etc. needs body and interior work) he has, but that is not my cup of tea.

I sell similar stuff for well less than $1000... If that guy offered you 1700 I would call him right now.

So Scott when I move back to Michigan this summer are you going to build me a $700 turbo setup that makes 500WHP?

Motor and trans are sold, so is car. I still feel like I gave away that car at only 1200...

Sounds good. I will be more then happy to help, and get all the parts. I can fabricate, but my tuning knowledge is zero! I know everybody on just about every forums gives you ****, but I have thoroughly read just about all your threads on the Fiero forums, and seen all the videos of yours and Justin's cars. I can respect what you guys do on a budget, and it is apparent you know what your talking about!

edit: did you have anything to do with that sick turbo 3800 s10 blazer I have seen videos of?
