I'm in the process of swapping heads and installing an IC and have a couple questions..

First, is it really necessary to copper spray fel-pro head gaskets? If so, then what is the correct procedure - how many coats per side? How long do I let the gaskets hang after spraying before laying them on the block?

Second? What is the typical rocker arm bolt torque spec? I have heard 15, 25, 28, and 30 ft lbs. I would assume it is either 28 or 30..

For the head gaskets, follow the instruction that came in the package of the gaskets, if it says "install dry" then do just that, the lt.blue gaskets I spray two coats and let stand 5-10 min. then install and torque to spec. For the FELPRO PERMA TORQUE, I have always installed dry. Most important is a clean and dry block and head surface.

For fel-pro's, you don't need copper spray. Just make sure your block and head surfaces are very very clean.

What rocker bolts are you using? Stock, or ARP, etc?

    Forgot to mention.

After you torque down the rockers, roll the motor over and retorque a couple of times. Reason behind it is technically you should torque the bolts with that cylinder at TDC. Since no one does.. you want to make sure you got the torque correct by rechecking a few times after moving the assembly.

Ok cool. That's the same thing I did when I did my mustang build years ago now that I remember haha. So just roll it via the balancer using a torque wrench or something, correct?
