When I replaced spark plugs and wires, I must have tweaked one of the aluminum heat shields around the front manifold. Anyhow, it vibrates when the engine is under load, or in overdrive and the buzzing is gettin' on my nerves.

I'm thinking about ripping them outta there. Are they really necessary....I mean do they keep heat from damaging anything...say electric fan motor, etc.

    Nope.

    No big deal Steve.

    Rip em out.

The rear one is more of a PITA, the front one is super simple.

This would be an excellent excuse to put headers in. Just taking tHe shields off isn't enough.
