I was wondering what the point of people using ls7 lifters was as I'm going to swap the lifters in my comp g when it gets warmer out. Are stock are fine until a certain point? I'd hate to waste money on something when it can be spent elsewhere.

Dude... bruh.... "LS"7 lifters... instant +43WHP.
To be all serious... taking a wild guess... but I believe they are lighter weight.
Thus 43WHP increase.
LS7 lifters are our stock replacement lifters.
Most people when doing a cam install want all new parts, so they buy brand new push rods, lifters and bolts so its all fresh.
for whatever reason my preload was off and I had to switch to 6.95 pushrods after getting ls7 lifters and my XP cam. Just an FYI for budgeting concerns. They mainly help high RPM performance from what I understand. Very small difference, and only over 6k RPMs.
